January 2026

We returned to Guatemala on December 30 and rang in the New Year here, as always, complete with lots of fireworks. It was actually pretty special being able to watch a huge fireworks show from our balcony at midnight.

The next few days were spent settling back in and unpacking before Jay left for Las Vegas on the 6th. He was invited to speak at a youth conference and spent about a week there also speaking at other events. It was such a refreshing time for him. He was getting to do what he loves, reconnect with good friends, and step away for a bit. We also welcomed a new niece on January 1st! Logan is pretty obsessed with babies, so baby Maddie is a hit!

Logan and I held things down here, which included caring for a sick dog. Not ideal, but we made it through. We also celebrated our third anniversary this month, which was really sweet.

Lately, most of my time has been dedicated to team schedules and preparations for Night to Shine. Every day comes with a long to-do list, but it’s exciting work. Night to Shine is next Friday, and we are so expectant and already seeing God at work through it.

I was also able to do Ale’s hair and makeup for her birthday, a little tradition we have.

The next couple of months are very full. We have Night to Shine next week, followed by a short break, and then our annual medical team. That week is always busy, stretching, and incredibly rewarding. It’s such a gift to see familiar faces return, and we definitely miss those who aren’t able to come this year.

On the day the medical team leaves, we’ll have another couple flying in to stay with us for the week. The very next day, a construction team arrives to work on the Community of Hope building project. Having teams back-to-back has been a challenge, but we’re making it work.

I’ll be flying to Alabama the day before the construction team heads out. Since I need to leave the country before Presley arrives—and before I’m unable to fly—March it is. Logan and I will spend two weeks there with family, soaking up time together and gathering any supplies we’ll need before Presley’s arrival.

Ways to Pray:

Rest & Family Time: This season is very full, and we’d love prayer for intentional rest and quality time as a family, so we can stay healthy, and grounded.

Finances: Finances are always a prayer request, but we’re already seeing God provide in sweet ways. With a new baby on the way and upcoming birth expenses, it can still feel overwhelming. Please pray for faithful monthly provision and for God to cover these larger costs with peace and trust.

Night to Shine: Our prayer has always been that this is God’s event. That those who are meant to be there will be there, and that God would make a way for each person, however He chooses to do that. Please also pray for Candice and I that the stress would be replaced with peace, and that we’d have wisdom and clarity from God as we finalize all the details.

Pregnancy & Birth: Please pray that this pregnancy remains healthy and that Presley gets into the right position, with everything lining up for a safe and healthy delivery.

We’ve also had several people ask how they can support us as we welcome our little girl in May. I’ve put together an Amazon list with some items we need, things that would be helpful, and a few we’re hoping for as we step into this new season of life. We’re so thankful for the love and support that surrounds us.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read our updates, pray for our family, and support us financially. We never forget the many people it takes for us to be here and to serve, and we are incredibly grateful for each of you.

With love,
Jay, Kelsie, and Logan
